Self Portrait and Portraits Intro

1. Some tips that I found useful were "Alter your Perspective", "Experimenting with Lighting", and "Obscure Parts of your Subject".

I liked this photo because out of everything behind the woman, she is the main thing that stands out as well as the flowers she is holding.

I liked this photo because the guy and the fire that he is holding is really bright compared to everything else in the background.




Photography Self Portrait:

I chose this photo because I loved how they incorporated the wintery, rainy, dark, grey theme of the photo into a part of the girl by putting it on her hair.

I chose this photo because I liked how it looks like she is causing the tornado behind her because there is wind blowing her hair back which makes the photo look like it has movement to it.


Casual Portrait:

I liked this photo because of the color difference in the scenery behind her versus the color tones of the girl.

I liked this photo because the colors on the girls clothes and hair matches the colors on the leaves behind her which creates a nice balanced photo.


On the self portrait photos I think that I will take a photo of my friend and myself. I would want to shoot somewhere that has a background that balances the colors of that person that is going to be in the picture. I am going to make sure that the person in the photo is as sharp and in focus as possible and the background is out of focus but still colorful, and the area that is surrounding the person is a photogenic area that will good behind the person.

The Camera

1. The "Camera Obscura" effect is when light is coming from the camera and projecting on to the wall in a dark room. It is created when you are in a dark room and there is a small hole in one wall where it is focused and the outside scene is projected upside-down on the other wall. 2. In the 17th century the high quality glass lens helped man come one step closer to creating the modern camera. 3. The parts of the modern camera were a glass lens, a dark box, and a film. 4. modern digital cameras and Niepce's camera both allow light too pass through the lens, into the camera, and expose the film which both result in a picture. 5.  digital cameras capture the images with an electronic sensor called a CCD. 6. Magazines Part 2

1) Image Based- Image Based magazine covers are the most common because they have less objects in it which make it more clean/ simple and less busy looking. Celebrities or fashion usually take place on the cover, and side shots can cause a more dramatic feel to the photo. 2) Illustration Based- Illustration Based magazines are not so common now as they used to be in the mid 20's and 30's but are now used more for comedic effect, or to present something funny. The magazine covers that use illustrated covers are independently published magazines that do not rely on newsstand sales. Also the illustration can draw eyes to it if it is drawn properly but, at the same time it is risky. 3) Type Based- Type Based magazines are also not very common but more common than the illustration magazines.
